Type 1863

Mainly found in municipal sewage plants with a high sludge load. There are a few organisms that are morphologically similar but physiologically different to Type 1863. Type 1863 has no influence on the sludge volume index, but can cause foam.

Factors promoting growth:

  • high sludge load > 0.2 kg BSB5/ kg TS * d
  • insufficient oxygen supply

Countermeasures:

  • reducing the sludge load
  • addition of ferrous precipitants (FERRACLAR CLASSIC, FERRAPLUS, FERRAL FD 1600, Contisolf, Contisolf Winter)
